Antonov An-225 Mriya 1:72 is a large injection-molded kit of the biggest airplane in the world from Modelsvit, with a composite fuselage and wings and a generous set of extras.
Responsibility details are not available.
This exceptionally large kit captures the legendary giant transport in 1:72 scale. The set from Modelsvit combines injection-molded plastic parts with a fuselage and wings of sturdy fiberglass-reinforced composite, and adds photo-etched parts, masks and decals for several schemes. The wings attach to the fuselage on metal pins, so they can be taken off for transport or storage. Its size and demands make it a kit for experienced modelers; the finished model has a span of about 1.2 meters.
The Antonov An-225 was built in the 1980s, originally to carry a space shuttle and the sections of launch vehicles. It was the heaviest aircraft ever to fly and at the same time had the largest wingspan of any aircraft in service. Six jet engines powered it and it rested on a many-wheeled landing gear. Only a single example was ever built and flown, and it became a symbol of aviation engineering.
Given the dimensions, allow for plenty of room both on the bench and for the finished display. Reinforce the joints of the large parts carefully and let them dry thoroughly. Wash and roughen the composite parts before gluing and bond them with cyanoacrylate. Large surfaces are best painted with an airbrush over a filler primer; the masks make the color scheme easier to handle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
