UM 1:72 T-26-4 — a plastic kit

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet artillery tank T-26-4 in 1:72 scale from the UM brand (UniModels). The package usually holds plastic parts, decals, and in this range photo-etched items and tracks tend to be enclosed. It is a detailed model of a less usual variant of the proven T-26 light tank.

The real subject

The T-26-4 was the artillery variant of the Soviet T-26 light tank, in which a larger turret with a short 76 mm gun was seated on the standard hull. It therefore combined the chassis of a light tank with a caliber heavier than was usual on the infantry forms. Only a few prototype vehicles were built, which makes the subject an interesting and rare one.

Building and painting tips

Assemble and clean up the running gear and the hull, and glue the small parts and the photo-etched items with super glue. Fit the vinyl or link-and-length tracks according to the type the kit holds. Once the base color and the camouflage are sprayed on, the details will come out thanks to washes and pigments for mud and dust effects.
