This plastic kit from RS models in 1:72 scale catches the Czechoslovak Avia Bs.322-1 biplane. According to the name it is a limited edition, that is a box issued in a limited quantity; boxes like this are usually not repeated. The term refers to the size of the production run, not to the way the kit is made. The exact number of parts and of the marking options is stated on the box.
Avia was one of the pillars of the Czechoslovak aircraft industry between the wars, and alongside the B-534 series of fighters it also built a numerous family of trainers and aerobatic biplanes derived from the B-122. What told the members of this family apart was above all the engine: the versions differed in their powerplants and with them in the shape of the nose and the cowling. The B-322 received the Avia Rk-17 inverted inline engine and wheel spats, which gave it a cleaner and faster look than the machines with a radial engine. The machine designated Bs.322-1 appeared at Czechoslovak flying meetings and aerobatic contests in the second half of the 1930s, at a time when aerobatics on biplanes was a prestige discipline and the aircraft wore striking civil color schemes.
A biplane in a small scale stands or falls with the struts and with the height of the upper wing. Try the whole assembly dry first and only then glue it, and let the joints harden properly before you touch the model. It helps to make a simple support jig out of a small box and some sticks to hold the upper wing in the right position. Add the bracing wires between the wings only after the paint has been sprayed, using stretched sprue, fishing line or thin wire. Glossy civil schemes need a perfectly smooth surface underneath, so sand and polish the joints before you start spraying, and apply the decals onto a gloss varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
