A set of masking stencils for the glazing of a model of the Avia S-199 aircraft in 1:72 scale. The shapes are prepared for the earlier type of canopy, that is for the hood with a different division of the frames from the later machines. Before buying, therefore, look at which hood your kit holds.
The Avia S-199 was a postwar Czechoslovak fighter. It grew out of Messerschmitt Bf 109 airframes fitted with a different powerplant and a propeller, with which the machine acquired unfriendly take-off behavior and the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. It flew with the Czechoslovak Air Force and some of the machines went abroad, where they appeared in combat. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject, because it fits into a collection of postwar machines as well as beside the classic Messerschmitts.
Stick the stencils onto a clean and degreased hood before painting, never onto a finished coat. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick, so that the paint does not run under the edge. Spray in thin coats perpendicular to the surface, first with the interior shade and only then with the outer color. Remove the masks shortly after spraying, while the coat is not yet completely hard, otherwise the edge may be torn away.
The set suits anyone who builds the S-199 in 1:72 scale and does not want to struggle with cutting tape by hand. In a small scale the difference between a straight and an uneven frame edge is apparent at first glance.
The package holds masking stencils only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
