The Avro Vulcan B.2 masking set from Art Scale is a modeling accessory intended for covering the clear parts of the Airfix kit while spraying. It is not a kit or a finished model. The designation one-sided means a single-sided set for the outer side of the glazing.
The Avro Vulcan was a British strategic bomber with a striking delta wing and four jet engines, one of the three types of the so-called V-force. The B.2 version was given a larger wing with a kinked leading edge, more powerful engines and more extensive equipment, which moved it on in performance from the first batch. Over the course of its service the machines moved from high-altitude operations to low-level flight, and in the later part of their career they also carried out conventional bombing and auxiliary duties. Given the size of the aircraft, even in 1:72 scale the cockpit sits high in the nose and its glazing consists of several separate assemblies, and it is precisely that which makes masking tedious.
Wash and degrease the clear part before applying them. Lift the masks off the carrier film with tweezers, lay them on the frame and press them down with a soft tool so that the edges seat along their whole length. On curves, a small fan-shaped nick or careful trimming with a sharp scalpel right on the part helps. Spray in thin coats: the interior shade first, then the base coat and finally the top color. A heavy coat builds a ridge under the edge of the mask which stays as a visible step once it is lifted. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off and is dry to the touch.
It is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
