A set of resin barrels for the defensive armament of the American Consolidated B-24J Liberator heavy bomber in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Quickboost. This is not an airplane model but precisely cast detail parts that replace the thicker plastic barrels from the base kit with thinner and crisper castings.
The B-24 Liberator was a four-engine heavy bomber, one of the most widely produced American aircraft of the Second World War. The J version had fully turreted defensive armament in the nose, the dorsal position, the belly and the tail, and in the sides of the fuselage. Machine gun barrels in a small scale tend to be coarse and prone to damage; the resin replacements are finer, have clean shapes and can be completed with a drilled-out muzzle for maximum fidelity.
Resin parts need more careful preparation: wash them free of any mold release residue in lukewarm soapy water, carefully separate them from the casting block and bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the barrels in dark metal through to blued steel, pick out the edges lightly with a dry brush and, if you like, suggest the muzzle with a darker dot.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
