A set of resin barrels of the defensive armament for the American medium bomber Martin B-26 Marauder in the B and C versions, 1:72 scale, from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but accurately cast detail parts that replace the thicker plastic barrels from the basic kit with thinner and crisper castings.
The B-26 Marauder was a fast twin-engine medium bomber deployed by the US Army Air Forces in Europe and in the Pacific. The B and C versions carried heavy defensive armament in the nose, in the dorsal and tail turrets and in the waist positions. Machine gun barrels tend to be coarse and prone to damage in a small scale; the resin replacements are finer, have clean shapes and can be given a drilled muzzle for maximum fidelity.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them free of mold release agent in lukewarm water with detergent, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with cyanoacrylate; protect your airways when sanding. Paint the barrels in dark metal to blued steel, gently bring out the edges with dry-brushing and, if you like, suggest the muzzle with a darker dot.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
