A decal sheet in 1:72 scale with the subject of Mk.IXe Spitfires in Norway in 1945. The package contains a sheet of decals, no plastic or photo-etched parts: it serves to mark a model that you build from a kit of your own. The manufacturer is the Norwegian brand Vingtor Decals.
In 1:72 the insignia, the numbers and the small lettering are substantially smaller than in the larger scales, so two things stand out above all: the thickness of the carrier film and the accuracy of the placement. It pays to work with tweezers with fine tips, in good light and perhaps with a magnifier. Small motifs are better slid onto the model one at a time, letting the surface dry briefly between individual pieces so that the decals already settled do not move.
Clear coat the surface with gloss and let it cure properly. Trim the decal close to the artwork, soak it, let it rest and slide it onto a dampened place. Line the position up with a soft brush, not with tweezers; in this scale the film tears easily. Once the water is blotted away, use a decal softener, which draws the decal into the engraved lines. Finally unify the whole model with a clear coat; a matte surface hides the edges of the film best. With the national insignia on the undersides of the wings, take care that an excess of softener does not lift them.
This is an accessory for modelers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
