A photo-etched set for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 in 1:72 scale is an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not an airplane model. It replaces coarser plastic parts with thin, sharply drawn etched sheet.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not an aircraft kit but an accessory photo-etched set for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 in 1:72 scale, cut for one particular kit, the Airfix one. It is made by the Czech maker Brengun, who has long specialized in photo-etched and resin accessories for aircraft models. The model itself has to be obtained separately.
Injected plastic has a technologically fixed minimum wall thickness. Parts such as the instrument panel, seat belts, grilles or small braces therefore come out needlessly heavy in 1:72 scale and do not sit right for the scale. Etched sheet is an order of magnitude thinner, holds sharp edges and allows layering, so the same detail looks convincing even under a magnifier. The exact contents of the package are on the packaging of the set.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface; do not break them out. Degrease the sheet with alcohol before gluing and spray a primer, otherwise paint will not hold on smooth metal. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, and on sharp edges it helps to score the line first. It is bonded with super glue applied with a pin; an excess is hard to remove, so less is more. The plastic parts that the photo-etched ones replace usually have to be cut off the model and the area sanded flat.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a model kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
