This item is a resin accessory from the Quickboost brand, not an aircraft kit. It is an attachment on the engine air intake that was fitted to machines committed in dusty environments. The filter caught the sand and dust that the intake air would otherwise have carried straight into the engine. This particular variant corresponds to the early execution, which differs from the later one in the shape of the body, and it is therefore sold on its own, separately from the late variant.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 in the F and G series was a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled inverted V12. Machines committed in the Mediterranean and in North Africa received an additional dust filter on the air intake, because fine sand markedly shortened the life of the engine. The filter was clearly noticeable on the airframe, it protruded from the side of the engine cowling and it changed the silhouette of the front of the aircraft, which is why models of tropical machines cannot do without the correct shape of filter.
Before gluing, be clear about whether the machine you are building had the early or the late execution of the filter, because both variants are sold separately and mixing them up is the most common mistake with tropical machines. Separate the casting from the casting block with a saw, fine-tune the seating face on sanding paper laid on glass and check the fit against the side of the cowling dry. After washing it free of mold release, spray it with primer. Paint the filter together with the surrounding camouflage so that the transition is not visible, and darken the grille or the mouth of the filter slightly at the end. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package. It is not a standalone model, because it requires a corresponding kit in 1:72 scale.
