A photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for detailing a model of the British Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B strike aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Blackburn Buccaneer is a British strike aircraft designed for fast flight at low altitude over the sea. It has a sturdy airframe, a crew of two seated in tandem and a folding nose so that it fits into cramped spaces. The S.2B version is among the later ones. Low flying in salt air gave the machines a markedly worn appearance, which is worth capturing on a model.
The set consists of photo-etched metal parts and supplements a plastic kit of the Buccaneer in 1:72 scale. The photo-etch is thin and holds a crisp edge, so it suits elements that are meant to look delicate on a model. The exact list of parts and their placement is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Accessories of this kind are usually used gradually during the build rather than on a finished model, so go through the instructions before you start gluing the fuselage.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, make the bends along the scored line and help yourself with a bending tool or two rulers. In 1:72 scale these are really tiny parts, so work over a surface with a raised edge so that nothing flies away from you. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and go over it with a thin primer, otherwise the paint will not hold well. It is bonded with super glue; cement for polystyrene will not join metal.
The set is for modelers who want to take a Buccaneer kit beyond the contents of the box and do not mind working with tweezers. Anyone building the Buccaneer as a worn machine from everyday service will appreciate not having to make the tiny elements themselves. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
