This item from MH models is not a kit of an aircraft but a set of external armament with which you complete a finished model. It consists of two resin castings of the BLG-66 Belouga cluster bomb in 1:72 scale. A casting captures the fine surface division of the body and the shape of the stabilizing fins more sharply than an injection mold can, and because the bombs hang under the wing in a clearly visible position, the quality of the detail tells in the result.
The BLG-66 Belouga is a French aircraft cluster bomb developed in the 1970s. A number of machines of French design carry it, typically the Mirage F1, the Mirage 2000 and the Jaguar, and foreign operators of those aircraft used it as well. The body has a cylindrical shape with a tail section and stabilizing fins, and on a pylon it is carried singly or in pairs. For a modeler the Belouga is a characteristic item of external armament that captures that era of French combat aircraft at once.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc and level the surface with abrasive paper used wet; resin dust is not to be breathed in. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and ordinary cement for plastic does not hold here. Apply a primer before painting. The color finish and the markings of armament differed by operator and by period, so check the shades and the bands against photographs of a particular machine and do not rely on one universal scheme. At the end a thin dark wash into the engraving and light rubs on the edges help.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
