A plastic kit of the Soviet BR-5 heavy mortar of 280 mm caliber in 1:72 scale. It is an artillery piece on a tracked carriage, not a vehicle. Besides injection-molded plastic, the package also contains photo-etched parts and shells; the barrel can be assembled in the transport or the firing position.
The 280 mm BR-5 mortar (Model 1939) was the heaviest field artillery piece of the Red Army in the Second World War. It used the same tracked carriage as the 152 mm Br-2 gun and was built in only a small number of examples. It served to destroy fortifications and heavy targets.
This is a small scale with fine parts, so glue the photo-etched elements with cyanoacrylate glue. Finish the tracked carriage and the barrel and try the position before painting. A primer, an airbrush and picking the detail out with washes all work well; pigment will add dust and mud on the carriage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
