A set representing camouflage made of jute tape for the British Sherman tank in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sherman was an American medium tank which British units also used on a large scale in the Second World War. Crews often modified their machines themselves, and one of the most conspicuous changes was wrapping the hull and turret in strips of jute tape. The fabric broke up the outline of the vehicle, suppressed reflections off the armor and at the same time held the mud or leaves applied to it. On a model it is an element that everyone notices before anything else.
A set in 1:72 scale representing the jute tape camouflage of the British Sherman. How the parts are laid out and where they belong on the model are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Fit the parts dry first and check how they sit on your kit, as the shape of the hull differs between makers. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest so that the edge of the fabric does not end in a sharp line. Wash and degrease before painting. Jute has a flatter and warmer tone than the armor, so it pays to paint it separately; the texture of the fabric is then drawn out by a dry brush in a color one shade lighter and by light soiling of the lower edges.
The set is for modelers who build British vehicles in 1:72 scale and want to set their Sherman apart from the ordinary out-of-the-box look. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
