1:48 Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress guns is an Eduard resin add-on set with machine gun armament for a model of the bomber in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right.

A four-engine bomber carries more defensive guns than any other type in the same category, and it is those guns that are most on show on a finished model. Injection-molded barrels from the box inevitably have a parting line along their whole length, and a circular cross-section is hard to keep on them. Resin castings do not have that line and hold the shape considerably better. This set from the Czech maker Eduard belongs to the resin accessory line. It is not to be confused with photo-etched sets, which are metal and flat, nor with self-adhesive masks or combined sets. It is a targeted accessory for a model you already own.
The Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress was the last and most numerous production version of the American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War. It is told from the earlier versions above all by the chin turret, which added defense against head-on attacks. The defensive armament was spread over the whole airframe, from the nose through the dorsal and ventral turrets to the tail position, and it was this density of guns that gave the type its nickname.
The barrels are thin and break under careless handling, so leave them on the casting block as long as possible. First wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw exactly square, otherwise the barrel will sit crooked. It is glued with super glue. Do the painting separately from the model, ideally on a stick, and use a primer. A metallic look is well rendered by a dark steel color with a slight graphite sheen. Fit the set right at the very end of the build, after the clear coat and the decals.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
