The masking set 1:72 Bugatti 100 by the Czech manufacturer Special Mask is an accessory for the kit of this unusual racing aircraft, not a car, as the name might suggest.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a model in 1:72 scale, not a kit. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks for covering the glazing and other areas that are meant to stay clean after spraying. It is worth heading off a misunderstanding right away: the Bugatti 100 is an aircraft, not a car, and the set therefore belongs among aviation accessories.
The Bugatti 100 was a racing aircraft designed in France at the end of the 1930s, at a time when speed air races were among the most closely followed technical enterprises. The design was unusual for its day in the aerodynamic, slender shape of the fuselage and the unconventional arrangement of the powerplant. The machine never went into its planned service and the aircraft remained above all an object of interest for aviation historians and modelers, who appreciate its clean shapes. It is exactly those that make it a rewarding model, one on which every inaccuracy in the painting shows at once, because the surface is broken by no protrusions or panel divisions.
A model with a smooth, aerodynamically clean surface deserves careful preparation of the base, because every scratch and fingerprint is emphasized under gloss paint. Fit and mask the glazing before you spray the base coat, so that the paint boundary is the same throughout the build. For gloss shades, apply several thin coats, as a heavy coat likes to run into the edge of the mask and leaves an unpleasant ridge once it is removed. Take the mask off while the paint has only just set, and with gloss finishes that goes double.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
