A New Ware masking set at the Advanced level intended for a model of the CASA C-295M tactical transport aircraft. The masks are cut from so-called kabuki tape, a thin Japanese masking paper that follows curves well and leaves no adhesive behind when removed. It is not a kit but an accessory for the painting stage.
The C-295 is a twin-engine turboprop tactical transport with a high wing and a rear cargo ramp, developed in Spain from a smaller predecessor and today built within the European aerospace group. It carries cargo and people, flies paratroop missions, medical evacuation and patrols, and it is valued for the ability to operate from short and unpaved strips. A number of European and non-European operators fly it, and it is part of the equipment of the Czech Air Force as well.
New Ware grades its sets by scope. The basic level deals mainly with the glazing of the cockpit, while the Advanced level is wider and adds further items to be painted, typically the wheels. The most extensive Expert level goes further still. On a transport aircraft with large windows and heavily divided frames the wider set is exactly what is practical, because cutting all those surfaces by hand would take longer than the build itself.
Apply the masks to a clean and degreased surface, ideally just before spraying. Press the edges down carefully with a blunt tool so that no paint runs underneath. Spray a thin coat of the interior color of the frames first and only then the outer shades. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has become tacky, pulling them along the surface rather than straight away from it. Keep the unused parts of the sheet, because they will serve on later builds.
It is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
