About product

Caudron C.600 Aiglon 1:72 - a resin kit from SBS Model

A complete resin kit of the elegant French low-wing monoplane in the form that flew with the French Air Force. The Hungarian maker SBS Model specializes in finely cast interwar types, and the Aiglon is a typical example of its work - a small but finely detailed model that you will not find among ordinary injection-molded kits. The kit is intended for experienced modelers used to working with resin.

The real subject

The Caudron C.600 Aiglon, meaning eaglet, was a light two-seat sporting and touring low-wing monoplane of the mid-1930s, designed by the Caudron design office. It was powered by an inverted inline Renault engine, which gave the aircraft its characteristic slender nose. Besides flying clubs and private owners it also served with the French Air Force, where it performed liaison and training duties. The Aiglon also wrote itself into the history of the long-distance and record flights of its day.

Building and painting tips

First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water to remove any mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a razor saw and use respiratory protection while sanding. The parts are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and larger joints can be reinforced with two-part epoxy. Before painting we recommend a primer coat, on which the fine engraved detail will stand out; the typical French finish can be managed with a brush as well as an airbrush.

Who the model is for

  • Experienced modelers with an interest in interwar French aviation
  • Collectors of less usual types in 1:72 scale
  • Modelers who want a small but striking liaison aircraft in their collection

The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted, cast in resin. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No, it is a complete kit cast in resin. The parts are glued with super glue and the build calls for experience of this material.

For experienced modelers. The resin parts have to be washed, cut from the casting blocks and sanded, which is more demanding than building an ordinary plastic kit.
