An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese Chengdu J-10 multirole fighter in the two-seat J-10S version in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. It differs from the single-seat version in its lengthened canopy with two seats one behind the other (tandem). The kit has finely engraved panel lines and a generous selection of external stores including air-to-air guided missiles and drop tanks. The box contains clear parts for the canopy glazing. The J-10 is a modern Chinese single-engine multirole fighter with a characteristic canard layout (small foreplanes ahead of the delta wing) and a side or a ventral air intake. It stands out for its agility and carries modern avionics and guided armament. The two-seat J-10S version is used for training as well as for combat tasks, in which the second crew member operates the weapon systems; in this form the aircraft has also flown with People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) display teams.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint and highlight the tandem cockpit before you close the fuselage, and mask the clear glazing during spraying. Pay attention to the seating of the foreplanes and to the fit of the air intake. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Assemble and finish the missiles and the tanks at the end.
