Responsibility details are not available.
This full Eduard photo-etched set is aimed at the pilots' compartment and the engine areas of the B-24H bomber in 1:72 scale. The combination of fine flat detail in the cockpit and structures around the four radial engines moves a Liberator kit a clear class upward. The box is an accessory for a kit; the plastic model has to be bought separately.
The Liberator was powered by four Twin Wasp radial engines with turbochargers, which gave the aircraft its performance at high altitude as well. In the glazed flight deck both pilots sat above the level of the wing, and in front of them stretched an instrument panel full of dials - a rewarding subject for detailing. The H version was built in several plants at once and fought over Europe, the Atlantic and the Pacific.
Start with the cockpit, which is the first thing to be closed into the fuselage, and leave the engine detail for the stage when the nacelles are put together. Move the small levers and frames into place on the tip of a dampened toothpick and fix them with a tiny amount of cyanoacrylate. Patience pays back twice over on this set.
The inside of the flight deck on American bombers was commonly sprayed a greenish zinc chromate shade, against which dark panels and colored levers stand out. The engine areas, by contrast, take a noticeably darker tone and a light highlighting of the edges.
