Delta Dagger F-102 in 1:72 - landing gear bay masking, Meng keeps the bay interior separated from the external coat.
Responsibility details are not available.
It comes into play at the moment when shades are decided: it covers the landing gear bays so that their inner color stays untouched under the external coat. This version follows the shapes of the Meng kit, so it is worth checking which maker's plastic you have at home before you pick a set.
The F-102 earned the nickname Deuce from the two in its designation and carried it through more than two decades of service. Air-defense squadrons used it to guard the northern approaches to the United States, while other machines stood on alert in Europe and in the Pacific. It reached Southeast Asia as base protection and escort, although it was not ideally equipped against the threat there. Greece and Turkey operated the type into the 1970s, and retired airframes then ended their lives as remotely controlled targets in trials of new weapons.
Air-defense machines often wore polished metal or a light gray, where every repair shows at once. It is worth taking your time when seating the masks and running a soft tip along the edges. Leave the panel lines to be emphasized until the bays are uncovered.
