This item is not a kit but an accessory for a model. It is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the Northrop A-17, or the export DB-8, in 1:72 scale from the Special Hobby kit. The templates are stuck onto the glazing and bound the frames of the canopy so that after spraying a sharp edge is left between the frame and the clear area. The designation one-sided means that the masks are cut for the outer face of the clear parts.
In 1:72 scale the cockpit frames measure only tenths of a millimeter, and the A-17 has a long divided canopy with many bars. Cutting them out of self-adhesive tape by hand accurately and symmetrically is a job for a great deal of patience, and one inaccurate cut shows on a finished model. Pre-cut shapes do away with that uncertainty.
The Northrop A-17 was an American single-engine light attack aircraft of the 1930s with a two-seat cockpit under long continuous glazing. Under the designation DB-8 it was exported abroad, where it entered the inventories of several armies. It is a typical machine of the transitional period between biplanes and modern all-metal monoplanes.
The package holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included.
