The AIM-7E belongs to the family of American air-to-air guided missiles carried under the name Sparrow III. They are medium-range missiles with semi-active radar guidance: the target is illuminated by the radar of the carrying aircraft and the missile homes on the reflected signal, so the aircraft has to track the target right up to the hit. The Sparrow became the basic armament of the carrier fighters of the US Navy and its long silhouette with its wings and fins is among the well-known external stores of the Cold War.
The set brings four missiles in 1:72 scale as a replacement for the simplified parts from the kit. According to its name it is aimed at models of the F-4 Phantom II and the F3H Demon. The exact list of parts, that is, whether the missiles come split and what other small items the package holds, is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down carefully, so that the wings do not get damaged. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the finish rubs off. Cyanoacrylate glue holds on resin and on plastic parts better than polystyrene cement, so it also suits the joint with the pylon. Paint and mark the missiles separately, away from the model, and seat them on the aircraft only at the end; with a pair under the wing, check that they are parallel first, because a store hung crooked is immediately visible on a finished model.
A model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
