Doodlebug is the nickname of an aerodynamically shaped tanker truck that appeared in the 1930s as a striking advertising carrier for an American fuel company. The whole body is drawn in the streamlined style of the day: a rounded front, smooth sides, covered wheels and almost no projecting details. The aim was not so much a technical advantage as that the vehicle should catch the eye on the road and look modern. Only a very small number of trucks of this type were built, so they are rarities that rarely make it into a series modeling range. That is exactly why the same subject appears in other scales as well, and it is a rewarding piece both for a display case and for a period diorama.
A resin kit calls for a different approach from plastic. First wash the parts in warm soapy water to get rid of the mold release residue, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and do not break them. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue, as ordinary cement for plastic does not work here. Protect your airways when sanding resin and sand wet if you can. A smooth streamlined body practically does not tolerate imperfections, so it pays to prime it, check the surface against the light and only then apply the color coat. A gloss varnish at the end underlines the period character of the vehicle and prepares the surface for decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
