The cockpit of this type has a low profile and frames running close together, so work by hand takes a lot of time. This variant of the set allows for the Italeri and Esci kits; separate items exist for the molds of other manufacturers.
The Super Sabre became one of the first American jet types to reach European allies in larger numbers, and it flew in Turkey and in the Far East as well. At home the air force display team became famous with it, and their performances showed how demanding it was to hold a formation with a machine so sensitive on the controls. The F-100 at the same time moved the practice of refueling in flight from an exceptional skill to an ordinary part of combat tasks, which opened up for the air force the possibility of moving whole units across the ocean with no intermediate landing.
Look the glazing over against the light first and remove any scratches with polishing paste. Press the transition between the mask and the glass down lightly with a blunt toothpick; that markedly reduces the risk of paint running under. Lay the order of the shades out in advance, because a metal surface is hard to put right.
