Replacement wheels for models of the two-seat McDonnell F-101B Voodoo interceptor in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The McDonnell F-101B Voodoo is the two-seat version of the American supersonic aircraft of the 1950s. Unlike the single-seat machines it was built as an interceptor, and its crew was a pair seated one behind the other, a pilot and an operator for the onboard equipment. Landing gear wheels tend to be overlooked on a model, yet it is on them that a finished aircraft stands and in a cabinet they are clearly visible.
The set replaces the wheels from the kit with a version that has better detail on the tread, the rim and the hub. How many pieces it contains and how the parts are seated on the landing gear legs is described in the instructions enclosed with the set. The wheels are fitted onto finished landing gear legs, so that they do not get damaged while the model is painted.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them degrease and dry. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest, so that the shape of the wheel stays regular. If the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic models will not hold on them and you have to reach for cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the rim separately from the rubber part, ideally with a mask. If the wheels have the tire flattening worked in, turn them so that the flattened face points toward the ground.
The set is for modelers who build the two-seat Voodoo in 1:72 scale and want to raise the standard of the landing gear with a small intervention. The kit of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
