A resin cockpit detail set in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Aires. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the cockpit from a plastic kit with a more accurate replica. The set typically contains the instrument panels of the front and the rear cockpit, the side panels, the ejection seats and further elements of the cockpit. It is meant for fitting into a matching plastic model.
The Grumman F-14B Tomcat is a two-seat carrier fighter with variable-geometry wings. The B version is a modernization of the original Tomcat with more powerful General Electric F110 engines, which improved its flying qualities over the earlier powerplants. The roomy two-seat cockpit with its many instruments is a rewarding place for detailed work.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off carefully and bond them with super glue. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The instruments come out after spraying with an airbrush and bringing them up with a dry brush and a wash. Dry-fit the parts before the fuselage is closed.
