An Eduard photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for a model of the F/A-18E Super Hornet. Thin metal parts replace the simplified plastic parts of the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet is an American carrier-based multirole aircraft, an enlarged and reworked variant of the older Hornet. It serves for air combat and for attacks on ground and surface targets and operates from the decks of aircraft carriers, which is why it has strengthened landing gear, a tailhook and folding wings. Against its predecessor it has a larger wing, angular leading edges on the air intakes and more racks for weapons, so it is easy to tell apart on a model.
This is a set of photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale. Photo-etch is a thin metal fret from which the individual parts are separated; the thickness of the material is of the order of tenths of a millimeter, so in a small scale the parts look markedly finer than their plastic counterparts from the kit. The extent of the set and the position of the parts on the model are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by twisting, otherwise they will bend. Make the bend along the marked groove, ideally in a bending tool or between two blades. Photo-etch is bonded with super glue or with two-part epoxy; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will crack on the smooth metal. In 1:72 scale the parts are truly tiny, so tweezers, good light and a dry fit all pay off.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The aircraft model itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
