An injection-molded plastic model of the American light fighter Northrop F-20 Tigershark in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa. The box contains plastic parts, a clear canopy part and a decal sheet. Hasegawa is known for the precise fit and fine surface detail of its aircraft sets.
The Northrop F-20 Tigershark was an American light fighter developed from the successful F-5 family. It originally carried the designation F-5G, and compared with the twin-engine F-5 it received a single more powerful General Electric F404 engine, more modern avionics and better flying qualities. It was intended above all for export to American allies, but it did not win out against the F-16 in competitions and the program ended at the prototype stage. Only prototype machines flew, and they became a showcase of what an advanced light fighter of the 1980s could do.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin plastic cement, and fill and sand the joints where needed. Apply a primer before painting; the demonstration finishes of the Tigershark tend to be striking, so an airbrush and careful masking pay off. Bring out the panel lines with a light wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
