A pre-cut self-adhesive masking set of kabuki tape for a model of the Japanese version of the Phantom in 1:72 scale. With this manufacturer the ADVANCED level is a designation of the extent of the set: it offers the BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT variants alongside one another, and they differ in how large a part of the model the masks cover, so the same name of the type in two names does not mean a duplicate. Kabuki tape is a thin paper carrier: it adapts to the curve of the canopy, seals on an edge and leaves no adhesive after removal. It is not a kit or a finished model, but an accessory for painting.
The F-4EJ was the version of the McDonnell Douglas Phantom II fighter aircraft intended for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and built in Japan under license. It came from the F-4E version, a two-seat twin-engine supersonic machine with a tandem cockpit and divided glazing of the canopy. For a modeler it is precisely that glazing that matters: it is made up of several separate parts with thin frames, where masking by hand is hard to keep to the same width.
First degrease the glazing in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry freely. Transfer the mask with tweezers, seat it dry according to the engraved frames, check its position and only then press it down with a soft tool around the whole circumference. Sort a more extensive set and stick all of it on beforehand, so that you do not have to re-mask during painting. Apply the paint in thin coats; a first thin coat in the shade of the frame will seal the edge and hide any seepage. Take the mask off shortly after it has dried, with a pull at a sharp angle toward yourself.
The set of masks is an accessory for painting a model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
