Armycast 1:72 F-8 J/FN/P Ejection Seat is a resin ejection seat for models of the Vought F-8 Crusader carrier fighter. A small accessory that changes the look of an open cockpit the most.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin replacement for the ejection seat of models of the Vought F-8 Crusader carrier fighter. It is the accessory that gives the greatest effect of all the small refinements: on a model with the canopy open, the seat is the first thing a visitor to a display case sees. The package does not hold an aircraft model; it is a separate detail part.
Carrier fighters of the 1950s and 1960s were given ejection seats with a complex arrangement of harnesses, firing handles and survival equipment. On the real machine it is a densely detailed assembly whose shape changed with upgrades to the airframe as well. An injection mold in 1:72 scale can manage such a detail only in simplified form, because sharp undercut shapes cannot be drawn from a split mold. Cast resin has no such limit, which is why the seats are cast as a single piece with full three-dimensional detail.
Cut the seat off the casting block with a saw and level the surface on abrasive paper laid on a tabletop. After washing, apply a dark base coat, then pick out the edges of the frame with a dry brush and set the harnesses apart in a color of their own. The belts look better if you go over them lightly with a dark wash once they are dry. Put the seat into the cockpit only when it is finished, and try a dry fit to see whether the floor needs sanding down underneath it.
This is a separate detail part, not an airplane model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
