This etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard adds fine metal detail to a plastic kit of the American F-86D Sabre interceptor in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces and sharpens selected plastic parts of the kit. It typically covers interior as well as exterior elements — the instrument panel, seat belts, levers and small covers — etched in thin metal of a kind that injection-molded plastic cannot capture.
The North American F-86D Sabre, nicknamed the Sabre Dog, is an American single-seat all-weather interceptor of the 1950s. Unlike the classic Sabre it carried a radar in the nose above the air intake and was armed with retractable unguided rockets instead of guns. It served with the US Air Force as an interceptor for the defense of national airspace.
Etched parts are cut from the fret, bent along the pre-scored lines and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); on larger surfaces a two-part epoxy helps. Tweezers, a photo-etch bending tool and patience are recommended — the set is meant for more experienced modelers.
This is a detail accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
