A set of separately rendered flaps for a model of the F4U-7 Corsair fighter in 1:72 scale. It replaces the parts from the kit and lets you set the position of the surfaces according to period photographs.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F4U-7 was the last production version of the Corsair carrier fighter. It was built for French naval aviation and differed from its American predecessors only in details of equipment. Even a layman recognizes the Corsair by its inverted gull wing, its long forward fuselage and its massive propeller.
The set brings separately rendered flaps for a model in 1:72 scale. Because they are separate parts, they can be set on the wing in a position other than the parts from the kit allow. The surfaces carry their own surface texture, which follows on from the surrounding wing skin.
First mark on the model where the original surface is to be cut away, and work in two passes rather than one deep cut. Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down carefully so that the fine edges are not damaged. Try all the parts dry until they sit without being forced. Wash and degrease them before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly. The suitable glue and the recommended procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions. When seating the parts, support them and leave them to set undisturbed so that the position does not change.
The set suits modelers who want to take a model beyond the contents of the box and resolve the wing more convincingly. The work calls for a sharp knife, sandpaper and patience in trying the parts. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
