A resin detail set from Quickboost with an underslung external fuel tank for a model of the American Grumman F6F Hellcat carrier-based fighter in the F6F-3 and F6F-5 versions in 1:72 scale. The one-piece casting has a faithful shape and a smooth surface with none of the seam that a glued plastic part would have. It is an accessory for a kit, not an airplane model in itself.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier-based fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine. The external fuel tank was carried under the fuselage and extended the range on long flights over the Pacific. The F6F-3 and F6F-5 versions were the main production variants.
Wash the tank to remove the release agent, cut off the casting block and bond it with super glue to the mounting under the fuselage. The smooth surface takes a gloss base and subsequent weathering well.
The kit itself and glue are not included in the package.
