Vacuum-formed canopy F/A-18D Hornet 1:72 (Rob Taurus) is a clear two-seat cockpit canopy with thin walls, a replacement for the part from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory, not a model, for aircraft models of the two-seat McDonnell Douglas F/A-18D Hornet in 1:72 scale. The longer tandem canopy is drawn from thin clear film by the vacuum process, so it has finer walls and higher clarity than the injection-molded part from the box. The package usually holds several pieces, for a choice of position or as a spare.
The F/A-18D is the two-seat version of the Hornet with a lengthened cockpit for two crew members in tandem. It was used both for training and for combat tasks calling for a second operator, for instance night attack or fire direction. The lengthened clear canopy is characteristic of this version and stands out especially well on a model with a thin vacuum-formed canopy.
Cut the canopy out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline and sand the edges down finely. For maximum gloss the part can be dipped in a gloss varnish. It is glued with clear PVA glue, or very carefully with cyanoacrylate, so that the fumes do not dull the plastic. The frames are masked and sprayed at the end.
This is an accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
