An injection-molded plastic kit of the British carrier-based Sea Harrier FRS.1 in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The model captures the characteristic machine with vectoring nozzles for vertical and short take-off (V/STOL). The exact contents of the box and the number of decal schemes differ from one boxing to another.
The Sea Harrier FRS.1 was a carrier-based fighter, reconnaissance and strike aircraft of the Royal Navy with vertical and short take-off. It grew out of the Harrier concept and flew from light aircraft carriers fitted with a ski-jump ramp. It became famous during the Falklands War in 1982, where it served in the air defense of the task force and in attacks on land and surface targets. Its ability to operate without a conventional runway made it a unique instrument of naval air power.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement, fill the seams and sand them down. Paint the cockpit interior and bring out its detail before you close the fuselage, and glue the glazing with a canopy glue. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals; bring out the typical naval schemes in gray shades after the decals with a panel line wash and fine wear applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
