This resin accessory of the Quickboost brand brings precisely cast main landing gear doors for a model of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in the A and F versions in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but a replacement part that takes the place of the thicker plastic doors from the box with thinner castings with a faithful thickness and a fine detail on the inner face.
The Fw 190 was among the most successful German fighters of the Second World War; the A version was a fighter, while the F version served as an attack aircraft for close support. The doors attached to the main landing gear legs are clearly visible with the wheel extended, and their inner face with its stiffeners is a rewarding detail. The plastic parts from the box tend to be too thick; a faithful casting with a realistic thickness reads far more convincingly with the landing gear bays open.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove any mold release residue. Carefully cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before gluing, check the fit on the landing gear legs; pick out the inner face of the doors with shading and a wash.
The accessory is supplied as a resin replacement part, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
