A photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for a model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D series. This is not a kit but an accessory to a model that you obtain separately. The photo-etched parts make it possible to replace or add to elements that are necessarily too coarse in injection-molded plastic — instrument panels, the seat with its harness, cockpit stiffeners, grilles and small covers. The Fw 190 D was a development series of the well-known German Fw 190 fighter in which the radial engine was replaced by a liquid-cooled V12 engine. The change showed in a markedly lengthened nose and rear fuselage and in a different shape of vertical tail, so the machine differs at a glance from the earlier A and F versions. Detailing on these machines most often concentrates on the cockpit, the cooling circuit in the nose and the small fittings on the airframe.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, and never tear them out. Make the folds in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is crisp and straight. Degrease the metal before gluing, glue with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy, and carry small parts with fine-tipped tweezers. Apply a primer to the finished photo-etched part before any paint. Cut away the parts of the plastic that the photo-etched part replaces beforehand and sand the surface flat.
