The set is a detail accessory for a plastic kit, not an aircraft model. It contains a 3D printed instrument panel cover for the kits of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D series from IBG in 1:72 scale. The upper cover of the panel is exactly the part that is most visible when looking into an open cockpit, and in a small scale it is necessarily thick-walled in injection-molded plastic. Printing allows thinner edges and a more clearly defined shape.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D, known among modelers as the Dora, came about by converting the proven Fw 190 series to the Junkers Jumo 213 inverted V12 engine. The lengthened nose and the lengthened tail changed the silhouette of the machine fundamentally, while the air-cooled version stayed in parallel production. The Dora reached units in the final phase of the war and was among the best-performing German piston fighters. The layout of the cabin followed on from the older versions, with a well accessible instrument panel and side consoles.
Separate the printed component from the supports with a sharp scalpel, sand the surfaces gently and degrease them before gluing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Dry-fit the cover before gluing the fuselage, so as to check that it does not clash with the canopy. It pays off to paint it separately from the rest of the cockpit, with primer and a following wash that pulls out the edges.
