The crosses of Saint George, Saint Andrew and Saint Patrick interweave into one of the most complicated flag patterns in the world and cover the whole area of an acrylic board. It is 280 x 180 mm, three millimeters thick and weighs 170 g. It is made by the Ukrainian brand Kelik.
The British flag got its present form in 1801, when the Irish element was added to it. The diagonal crosses are not symmetrical and have a narrower and a wider white border, which is clearly visible when seen from above. Modelers often notice this detail only in the finished photograph.
It is suitable under kits such as the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane, the Tornado GR4 or the Eurofighter Typhoon; it will serve just as well under British vehicles and guns. The oblique lines of the pattern tie naturally to swept wings, so the model only needs to be laid so that its axis follows one of the diagonals. Solvents and aggressive cleaners would dull the surface irretrievably. Muted shades of British finishes will not be overpowered by the colorful base; rather it will give them the contrast they need.
The hardware that stands on the board is sold separately.
