The F-16 is a single-engined multirole combat aircraft with a side air intake and a bubble canopy, which gives the pilot an excellent view. In the Hellenic Air Force it serves with several squadrons designated by the word Mira, and unit anniversaries are traditionally commemorated there with a strikingly marked machine. Anniversary finishes usually last only a single season, so a model is a collector's way of keeping such a machine for good.
In 1:72 an F-16 model has a great many engraved lines and panel transitions, over which the decals often pass. It therefore pays to work in two phases. First seat the decal on gloss varnish and let it dry with no chemicals, and only then apply the softener and let it work without touching the decal, because a softened film tears easily. If a bubble remains over an engraved line once it is dry, pierce it with the tip of a scalpel and apply the softener again. A closing overcoat gives the surface a uniform sheen.
