Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from FLY captures the American twin-engined carrier fighter Grumman F7F-2D Tigercat in its postwar version. It is a short-run kit; the package holds plastic parts, clear parts for the glazing, decals and masking templates. The particular part count and the number of schemes are given in the enclosed instructions.
The Grumman F7F Tigercat was a powerful twin-engined carrier fighter of the US Marine Corps and Navy, developed at the close of the Second World War. Thanks to its pair of radial engines it was among the fastest piston machines of its day and offered heavy armament. The F7F-2D version came about in the postwar period as a two-seat form for controlling unmanned target drones (drone director); the Tigercat practically never saw combat in the Second World War and found its use mainly after the war.
With short-run kits patience pays off: first clean the ejector marks and flash off the parts, dry-fit as you go and reckon on adjusting the seams with filler and sanding. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and canopy cement on the clear parts. Apply a base coat (primer) before airbrushing; for the naval scheme, picking out the panel lines with a fine wash and discreet weathering of the exhaust staining work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
