A set of masking shapes for the glazing of a British fighter from the time of the Battle of Britain, 1:72 scale. Intended for the outer surface of the glazing.

The structure of the Hurricane still came from the interwar school: welded steel tubes, wooden formers on them and fabric over those. For 1940 that looked outdated, yet this very structure turned out to be an enormous advantage. A hit from a cannon shell passed through the covering without tearing the load-bearing structure apart, and a damaged machine could be repaired overnight with a needle, thread and paint. In the Battle of Britain Hurricanes shot down more enemy aircraft than all the other types together, and they then went on serving in the desert, over the sea and in the Far East.
The canopy of this fighter is angular and divided into several rectangular panes, which looks like easy work until you start cutting tape right on the model. The thin frame between the panes is narrow in a small scale and a knife scratches it easily. Pre-cut shapes prevent that. The target kit is the model from Legato. The covering is laid out for the outer surface. The inner side is left free, which comes in handy, because on this type the seat and the gunsight are very clearly visible through the rectangular panes and they are worth working up before the fuselage is closed.
The frame between the panes deserves special attention: run over it twice after application and make sure that no edge overlaps into the neighboring panel. It is best to start spraying from the armored windscreen and work backward. After removal it is good to let the model rest before going on to the next steps. The package holds masking material exclusively.
