This set from the manufacturer Armory offers a replacement for the landing gear wheels of a Hurricane in 1:72 scale. The tires are cast with a flattening from loading — an unobtrusive but effective detail thanks to which even a small model stands on the ground credibly. The fine relief of the hubs in cast resin easily surpasses the possibilities of ordinary moldings in this scale.
The Hawker Hurricane was among the most important fighters of the RAF. It entered service at the end of the 1930s and in the Battle of Britain it bore the main weight of the fighting — its pilots then achieved more kills than the pilots of all the other types put together. Its rugged structure allowed it to operate from grass field airfields, where the loading of the tires under the weight of the machine was clearly visible.
Small wheels are easily lost — cut the casting blocks off over a base and hold the parts with tweezers. After sanding and washing with detergent, glue with a drop of super glue. Paint the tires dark gray and the hubs according to the particular machine; a fine dust pigment around the contact area will support the impression of an aircraft from a field airfield.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit of the aircraft is not included in the package.
