About product

He 111P-2 bomb bay 1:72 - Eduard photo-etched accessory

A photo-etched detail accessory from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:72 scale for a model of the German Heinkel He 111 bomber in the P-2 version. It is not a standalone model but a set of photo-etched parts with which you detail a plastic kit. The set is shaped for a particular version of the subject and concentrates on the bomb bay. The parts stay in the fret and are separated from it once they have been bent and glued on.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was one of the main medium bombers of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. It stood out for its glazed nose, a pair of inverted V12 engines and a range that in the early war years made it the backbone of the bomber units. The P-2 version is among the widespread production variants of this machine. The photo-etched accessory helps bring the model closer to the real subject in places where a plastic kit is simplified as it comes.

What the set contains

The set concentrates on the bomb bay: it holds photo-etched bulkheads, bomb racks, walls and details of the bomb bay, thanks to which the bay can be built open and full of detail. The photo-etched parts from thin sheet replace or supplement the plastic walls of the bomb bay and let the model be shown with the bay open. The He 111P-2 designation refers to the real version of the bomber the set is shaped for.

Usage tips

Bond the bomb bay parts with super glue and seat them carefully in the fuselage before it is glued together. An open bomb bay comes into its own once the interior is painted and brought out with a wash and a dry brush on the edges. Before painting, degrease the parts, apply a primer and spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Once the parts are on, the fine edges are brought out with a wash and a dry brush. Working with photo-etch calls for tweezers, a sharp knife and patience.

Who the set is for

  • For modelers building the Heinkel He 111 in 1:72 scale
  • For anyone after the greatest possible fidelity in the details of the airframe and the interior
  • For more experienced modelers used to photo-etched accessories and super glue
  • As a way of enriching a plastic kit with fine metal elements

This is a detail accessory, not a model. The kit itself, glue, paints and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. It is a photo-etched accessory, that is a set of fine metal parts with which you detail your Heinkel He 111 model. You need to have the kit or buy it separately.

It lets you build the bomb bay open and full of detail: photo-etched bulkheads, bomb racks and bay walls replace the simplified plastic.

Rather for more experienced modelers. Working with photo-etch calls for tweezers, bending the parts and bonding with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
