This add-on set from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds holds photo-etched parts for sharpening up a model of the experimental Kugisho R2Y1 Keiun aircraft in 1:72 scale. It supplies the fine elements that injection-molded plastic cannot capture in a matching thickness. The set is not an aircraft model in itself; it is an accessory.
The Kugisho R2Y1 Keiun was a Japanese experimental reconnaissance aircraft of the late Second World War. It stood out for an unusual layout with the engine mounted inside the fuselage and the propeller driven by an extension shaft. It came about only as a prototype and never reached production or service, yet it is among the interesting development types of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a firm surface and bonded as a rule with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Make the bends along the score line, ideally in a bending tool. Degrease the parts before painting. The set raises the realism particularly around the cockpit and the fine surface elements.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
