A printed acrylic base for a model, 280 x 180 mm and 3 mm thick, with the motif of the flight deck of a Japanese aircraft carrier in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A printed plate for a finished model, drawn in 1:72 scale. The motif represents a section of the flight deck of the Japanese aircraft carrier Taiho, that is of a carrier with an armored flight deck. The plate is of acrylic, measures 280 x 180 mm, is 3 mm thick and weighs 170 g. Nothing is built or painted on it; it serves as a setting under finished work.
At 1:72 scale the surface of 280 x 180 mm corresponds to roughly twenty by thirteen meters of real deck. A model of a carrier aircraft in the same scale fits onto it comfortably and free surface is left around it, which does a shot and a display case alike some good. The 3 mm thickness gives the plate rigidity, so it does not bend under the model and can be carried with it. The plate itself sets the surroundings the model belongs to: on a bare shelf even a carefully built machine looks as if it were floating.
Either just stand the model on the base, or fix it with double-sided tape so that it does not shift when carried. Acrylic scratches easily, so wipe it with a soft dry cloth and do not use solvents, spirits or nail polish remover, which will cloud the surface for good. When photographing, place the model off center rather than in the middle and leave a stretch of free surface in front of it, as the framing then does not look cramped. In a display case the base also pays off where several models from the same setting stand together and are meant to read as a whole.
The plate alone is supplied. The aircraft model, the figures and the paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
