Wheels for the Italian armored car 1ZM, type 03, 1:72 scale

This accessory set of replacement wheels is intended for a model of the Italian armored car Lancia 1ZM in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle - the set serves to change the wheels on a model already bought. The manufacturer GAS HANS keeps three forms for the same vehicle, designated Type 01 to Type 03, and this set corresponds to type 03. Compare the differences between the types from the manufacturer's illustrations and from the subject you are building.

Why replace the wheels

The wheels from the box tend to be divided into two halves and the joint runs across the tread, so it has to be filled and sanded over exactly where the pattern is most visible. A separate set saves this work, and thanks to the sharper shape the tire looks more convincing on a finished model. With vehicles that had a long service life it moreover makes sense to choose the form according to the period you are building.

Usage tips

First check the parts and clean up the remains left after casting, then try the wheel dry on the axle and adjust the stub if need be. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: for resin and 3D printing super glue, for plastic the ordinary modeling kind. Painting is most comfortable before they are set in place - even the tire out in a flat shade, set the rim apart, and only then add dust and mud with pigments on the finished model.
