Minneapolis-Moline MT-40 Tow Tractor (US Navy) in 1:32 scale is a resin set from Aerobonus. It is not a model of an aircraft but an airfield tow tractor with which you complete the scene around a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds castings in modeling resin from which you build an American airfield tow tractor in the naval form. It is not a kit of an aircraft nor part of one: it is a separate accessory that gives a finished model context, whether that is towing an aircraft on the ramp, operations on the deck of an aircraft carrier or a static diorama. In the large 1:32 scale both the overall silhouette of the machine and the fine detail of the castings stand out.
Minneapolis-Moline supplied the American armed forces with a range of small wheeled tractors derived from agricultural machinery. The MT-40 type served to tow aircraft, to move carts with equipment and for other support work on airfields and on the decks of ships. It was a low and sturdy machine in which high weight relative to its size mattered, because only that kept traction while pulling an aircraft many times heavier. Naval machines differed from the land-based ones above all in the form of their equipment and in their finish.
Before gluing, wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water so that the remains of the mold release agent disappear, because otherwise paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc rather than with nippers, which crumble resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), because classic cement for plastic does not hold on resin. When sanding, work wet and protect your airways. Spray a primer and only then the paint; a final dark wash and a dry brush will bring out the rivets, the grilles and the chassis and drivetrain.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
