Two renditions of the heaviest laser-guided bomb of the Russian Air Force, printed from resin with a fine surface relief. The set serves to arm a finished model of a combat aircraft and changes its stores beyond recognition.
The suffix L means that the seeker head follows a reflected beam. The target therefore has to be illuminated by the targeting pod of the carrier or by a ground controller for the whole time of the bomb's flight. The advantage is high accuracy even against small point objects, the disadvantage dependence on the weather and the need to stay in the area. The weapon belongs to the family of heavy guided ordnance whose development began in the nineteen-seventies and continued in modernized versions up to the present. It is in the armament above all of the Su-24M and the Su-34.
The transition between the body and the seeker head is a conspicuous place, so level it with a fine sanding block once it is glued. It is best to hang both bombs symmetrically, as heavy types are carried on these aircraft in a pair. Let the lettering from the decals dry and only then go over it with matte varnish, so that the surface matches the rest of the model.
